Caran
Caran, in it's native Quenyan elvish, means land of rubies. Called such for obvious reasons, it is home to fantastic deposits of the gem. Located near another Enchantican ally, the elven isle of Ardunniadd, Caran is a major market place, and a trade partner with Enchantica. Just a two day sail, or a five minute portal ride, away, it is Enchantica's closest neighbor.
An island nation, it consists of the Home City of Carandal, situated a thousand meters over the wind swept ocean. Its main port and hub, lead up to the Great Rise Steps to the city state of Carandal. The center of the isle is largely desert, but hardly barren. It's steep and twisting climes are ideal for grapes, making the Caranian wine trade brisk. Herbs and orangeries flourish here in large part to it's year round mild climate.
Home to the famed and feared Roc Riders, the men and women that soar the skies on these fantastic birds of prey, have given rise to the pennant of the royal House of Anwyledd-Surion; that of a red flag, bearing a proud symbol of a war eagle in full flight. The motto of the realm is that of Pertinacia nos defendit, "Determination protects us", speaks of this proud nation's values and fortitude.
Ruled by Queen Tatiana Anwyledd Surion, Lady Scion of Caran, and King Anandar Anwyledd Surion, nephew of the Emperor of Enchantica and son of the Ruling House of Ardunniadd, it is hoped that their heir may one day rule both Isles, thus uniting the Green Isle and Caran for the first time under one banner in over ten generations.
